With the aim of strengthening the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the People's Republic of China and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro departed this Wednesday from the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia to the Asian country.

In this sense, the Venezuelan President stated that this work visit with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, is "necessary, opportune and full of very positive expectations for Venezuela".

This strategic meeting, as President Maduro said before leaving, aims at "advancing the new strategic association agreements in the economic, commercial, financial, technological and communicational fields, in order to keep deepening the extraordinary political, cultural and economic relations between President Xi Jinping and our Homeland".

Venezuela and China initiated diplomatic relations back in 1974; however, with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chavez Frias to the presidency in 1999 such bilateral bonds became a strategic relation for the benefit of Venezuela's development plans, which are currently continued by President Nicolas Maduro.
