Russia and Venezuela sign 3 new cooperation agreements PDF Print E-mail

24.08 Rusia y Venezuel 3 nuevos convenidos de cooperacionThis Tuesday, at the Yellow House in Caracas, the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, signed three new documents that will strengthen the union between the two countries.

Initially it highlights an agreement for the creation and operation of the centers of science and culture. It shall be a centre for cooperation in Science and Culture of Russia in Venezuela, which will be established in Caracas and will serve to spread Russian culture in Venezuela as well as teach their language.


Also signed, was a Plan of Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Venezuela, which will be developed between 2011 and 2014. Both institutions will have a roadmap to coordinate their political positions in the next three years.

Finally, the ministers signed a joint statement which reflects the successes and achievements of the visit of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Venezuela.

After signing the three agreements, the Russian Foreign Minister assured that the meeting was a positive for the union of the peoples. Lavrov said that on Wednesday there will also be a meeting with President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías, and the president of the Venezuelan Parliament, Fernando Soto Rojas.

In turn, Minister Nicolás Maduro said that the bilateral relations between Russia and Venezuela represent a close alliance and points towards the future.

It was also reported that during the meeting of more than two hours, they discussed various global issues and agreed to promote the defense of the sovereignty of peoples.

He said that both countries have a strategic Alliance for cooperation in all areas. "We have endorsed the upcoming visit of Russian Prime Minister as a precursor of the Joint Committee that will he held in Moscow at the end of the year.

He also said that they share the need to persevere in the building of a multipolar world that respects international laws "and our people can live in peace".

With regards to the invasion in Libya, Maduro said that a new form of colonization is the infamous criminal aggression that has been applied to the African people. "The situation in Libya is very delicate, it is filled with uncertainty (...) We condemn the attacks on Libya", he said.
